A Magical Winter

Happy Weekend!  It sure is a hot one here.  Made it into the high nineties today.  I played it safe and stayed inside all day.  I just finished up this layout of my mom and her brothers capturing a little bit of their childhood when they lived in Fort Chipewyan, Canada.  Lots and lots and lots of snow!  If you click on the picture you will get a larger view.

Lately I have been following the sketches over at Sketchy Thursdays.  This week's sketch sort of threw me off with the numerous horizontal strips.

Instead of adhering strips of paper, I had two pieces of snowflake paper by Webster's Pages.  I cut out each individual row of snowflakes, inked them and added pop up dots. I also sparingly used some Blue Skies Glimmer Mist on my base paper.

I did a lot of cut work on these beautiful papers from Webster's Pages Winter's Wings Collection.

I added some Baby Blue Stickles to the word magical that was printed on the paper.
I had in my stash a bunch of beautiful doilies that I had recently purchased, and used one as a central backing for my photos.

I  so adore this picture of my mom and her little brother.  This picture was taken in 1939 when my mom was 6 years old.  Her younger brother, Bryce was only two.

Some News To Share . . .

Last week I posted my Summertime layout.  I love the bright vibrant colors of the Lily Bee Hello Sunshine collection.

I got these papers from my June kit I bought at Paper Poppy Kit.  Aphra Boyler, owner of Paper Poppy Kit Co.  posted my layout on her blog.  Well, in turn she gave one of her June kits to Lily Bee for some lucky person to win.  Click here for the details.  Lily Bee highlighted some layous on their blog, and mine was one of them!  I was so excited when I saw it, as this is a first for me to have a layout on a manufacturer's blog!  Stop on over at Lily Bee, leave a comment for a chance to win Aphra's June kit.

Two DT Reveals!!!!

Gosh this is a first for me, to have two Design Team reveals on the same day. I'm so excited to show you my debut layout for She's A Sassy Lady.  You should head on over to Shelia's blog, where you can find an assortment of talented ladies.
I so adore this picture of my son when he was such a little thing!  We was quite the wiggle worm sitting on his Pop Pop's lap.  The paper is by Little Yellow Bicycle.  I used my new Cricut cartridge Cindy Loo to cut out the tree.  If you want to see a step by step tutorial of this layout, then head on over to She's A Sassy Lady.

Now for my second reveal . . .

It's Thursday and that means a new sketch over at Sketches In Thyme. We'd love to have you participate in our weekly sketch challenge!

This week's sketch is by Jessica Cowan aka scrapiopath blogspot.com.
Here is her sketch:
I used some new stickers on this one from a colorful fun paper kit by Echo Park called Summertime.
I used my Cricut cartridge Walk In My Garden to cut out the cute little turtle, and I gathered some green polka dot ribbon for the grass.

Wake Up And Smell The Coffee

Well it's Friday and that means a new challenge over at Frosted Designs! This week we had to use something from around the house as an embellishment on our project.  This one was a challenge for me.  I just could not for the life of me find anything!  As I was sitting and drinking my cup of coffee from 7-11, I looked at the corrugated holder on the cup and it hit me!  I cut apart the holder and colored it with pens and used it as part of my title.
I thought the title I chose was perfect for this picture of my son and our dog.  You can always find them lounging on the couch.  All of the paper I used is from Fancy Pants, My Family.  I even got a little adventurous with my sewing machine and did some zig zag stitching on the layout. The clouds and tree are wooden cut outs I found at Michaels.

Please stop by Frosted Designs and take a look at what our fabulous DT has come up with this week! Don't forget our fantastic drawing which will take place at the end of the month.  One lucky person will win this fabulous prize:
All you need to do is enter a project.  Enter as many times was you want!

Summertime

I recently got my June kit from Paper Poppy Kit Co. and fell in love with the new collection Hello Sunshine by Lily Bee Design. When I looked at the colors I instantly thought perfect for a beach layout.  I found this old picture of my kids at the beach in Avalon, NJ.

I based my layout on the current July Guest DT Challenge over at Sketchy Thursdays.  I just love their sketches.

I added stitching around the edges of the paper.  I love the Prima lettering I used for the title.  I added some Jolee embellishments I had in my stash and some corners and buttons.

Love me Love my Dog

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!  Except for the extreme humidity, I had a great weekend.  My oldest child  Jeffrey,  celebrated his 23rd birthday on Friday. We had the family and friends over on Sunday and celebrated with a cookout.  It was nice to have everyone gather at my home.

When looking through my mom's old pictures I came across this one of her younger brother, my Uncle Bryce.  He had the most beautiful curly, blonde hair and I adore this picture of him with the family dog. I had been wanting to use the current sketch over at Sketchy Thursdays and when I found this picture, the whole layout came together.
I used paper and trim by Pink Paislee and other embellishments from October Afternoon, Jenni Bowlin and Prima.  I love that the photo I used captures my grandmother's handwriting!

Live Laugh Love!

Good evening everyone!  I have been working on this layout bit by bit over the past few evenings.  Not much free time this week as I have been spending my spare time outside weeding.  Tonight it is raining, so I finally had a chance to finish this one. I used the sketch over at Stuck On U Sketches.  The Sketch is by Becky Fleck.

Most of the paper, the material and trim I used came from the debut  May kit over at Midnight Rooster. I have been anxiously waiting for their June kit reveal.  May was jammed packed with all sorts goodies.

This is me and my sweet  doggie, Zoey!

God's Little Creatures

I have spent the better part of the evening working outside keeping up with the weeds.  I had my daughter come out with her camera  and take some pictures for me.  Just thought I would share with you the beauty of a flower along with some of God's little creatures.
