Happy Valentines Day Card - Paper Craft Star and Paper Issues Challenges

I told myself this year I was going to try to join in on at least one if not two challenge blogs a month.  The other day I was on Angi's blog, Cokie Pop Paper  admiring her DT card she made for the challenge over at Paper Craft Star. Thanks for the inspiration Angi!  Their current challenge #30 is to scraplift a Paper Craft Star Creative Team Member.    As I was visiting each of the DT blogs, I came across a beautiful card that one of their DT members, Karen Duran of
Paper Loves Glue  made and just knew that this was the one!
Here is my card:
and
here is a picture of Karen's card:
I used up some papers and embellishments I had from Pink Paislee's Bayberry Cottage, a Prima flower that I took apart and placed under the scalloped circle and used some $1 stamps I bought at JoAnns Fabrics.  I thought it would be fun to make a Valentines Day card in  non traditional colors!
Here are a few close ups:

I am also entering this card over at Paper Issues Valentines Day Party challenge!

Footprints In The Snow

Well, yesterday the snow came and the sleet came and the snow came. The wind was terrible and driving was awful.  It took my daughter 5 1/2 hours to get home from work, a ride that normally is 30 minutes.  I live on back roads, and they proved too much for the car, as it got stuck.  I was able to get my neighbor who has 4 wheel drive to go and rescue her.  Then at 11:00pm the electricity went out. It just came back on about an hour ago.  Going with out heat for 18 hours is brutal!  Plus I'm on well water, so we had no water.  It got to 59 degrees in my house.  I was one happy camper when the electricity came back on!
Now that I got that off my chest,  on to my layout!
I've had this picture for a few years now.  My daughter took this picture of her boot print and Zoey's paw prints in the snow covered sidewalk.
I was late this week finishing my DT entry for our sketch challenge at Frosted Designs. I guess better late then never!
Libeeti designed this wonder sketch.
I  used several different collections from Webster's Pages and added some felt snowflakes by Bo Bunny.

Hope you'll have time to enter our sketch challenge at Frosted Designs.  You can check it out here!

It's Snowing Here -----------

Yep, that's right, it's snowing here!  It's one of those days when you just want to stay inside.  We are expecting anywhere from 5 to 10 inches with a little sleet mixed in.
I've been a little MIA these past few days, sick with the flu bug.  I'm feeling a little bit better and hope to catch up on all of your blogs.
I wanted to share a layout I made last week using the January kit from Lucky Girls Crafts.  I won their January blog hop prize and had a $25.00 credit to their store, so I ordered their January Forever Love kit.
The beautiful woman in the picture is my grandmother, whom we lost to breast cancer many years ago.  This picture of her was taken shortly before she was diagnosed.
Oh how I miss her.
Here are a few close ups:

I also have some news to share!!
Julie Tucker-Wolek has a great challenge blog, These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things and I've been chosen to be a part of her design team!
I'm super excited and can't wait to work with her 24, yes I said 24 amazing DT members!  The blog is all about favorites!  Something new and challenging for me!  My first project will be revealed on February 15th and I can't wait !
I hope today to finish my layout for the current Sketch Along Tuesdays Sketch Challenge at Frosted Designs.  Our reveal was yesterday and I had started a layout and then came down with the flu.   Please make sure you check out what our amazing DT has created and what are two guest designers have to share.  We've got an amazing prize up for grabs:
and, while you at it, stop on over at Artful Delight to check out Leeanne's  fabulous February kit:
If you love Graphic 45 and Prima, then you are going to want to purchase this kit.

I Love My Little Cupcake Girl

Wanted to share this layout of my sweet daughter on her 4th birthday.  A week prior to her birthday she had come down with the flu, and became so sick that she ended up in the hospital for two days.  Instead of celebrating with her friends, we opted for a celebration at home with the immediate family.  She requested Cookie Monster cupcakes instead of a cake.
I used papers and embellishments from Little Yellow Bicycle's Cupcake Love collection which were in the January kit from Artful Delight, and based my layout on their current sketch challenge:
Here are a few close ups:
Here is a tip when using twine.  It achieve the curly effect, wet your twine and wrap it around a pencil.  When it dries you have a curly piece of twine!

Love Altered Frame

I wanted to share another project I just finished using some more goodies from Artful Delight's January kit!
I found this wooden frame at Michaels for $1.  I painted it pink and then added some crackle paint.  Believe it or not this was the first time I've ever used crackle paint.  I'm sure you are wondering who is in the picture - me and my beautiful mom!  I plan on giving this to my mom for Valentines Day!  Here are a few close ups:
Beautiful Prima roses from the January kit!
Lace and pearls  from my stash and American Crafts Rose Blush Ribbon from the January kit!
Chipboard love from the January kit which I painted cream and then stamped with pink scroll work!
I just love how this frame turned out and I can't wait to give it to my wonderful Mom who means the world to me!

Valentine Treat Box

I've been having so much fun working with the January kit from Artful Delight!  I made this little Valentine treat box full of conversation hearts:
I found a box template online, which you find find here.  I'm quite sure if I took the time I would have been able to find one on the many Cricut cartridges that I have.  I really do need to start using my Cricut again.

Sweet & Silly

Just a quick post here to share a layout I completed using the January kit from Artful Delight.
My two kids years ago, Sara being the sweet one and Jeffrey silly!

Here are a few close ups:

To add a little pop to the American Craft Thickers, I stamped some little red hearts on the letters.
I based my layout on Artful Delights January sketch ASC4:
You have until Januaruy 23rd to enter a project at Artful Delight using the January sketch.  The winner will receive the February kit and a guest Dt spot for the month of February.  Check out the details and enter your project here.
Unfortunately the January kit is sold out, but in a few days Leeanne will be revealing the February kit and it is a must have!

This Beauty Will Make Our Hearts Take Flight

Hi everyone!  Well, I survived the snow storm.  Mother Nature was kind and only left a few inches!
I recently was given some old photos from my dad's side of the family.  As I was looking through them I came across one of my grandmother, "Nana" at the age of 8 years old, taken back in 1913.
Isn't she beautiful!!!
For Christmas I got the Scarlett collection by Glitz Designs and thought the aged look of the papers was perfect for the picture of my Nana.   I love the bright colors in the paper against the aged photo!
Today over at Sketches In Thyme we have a new sketch reveal, and it's a fabulous sketch from Sketchabilities:
I flipped the sketch:
One of the things I have decided to accomplish this year, is to break out of my comfort zone and try some new techniques. I saw a flower tutorial the other day at Scrap A Little and decided to give it a try. You can find the flower tutorial here
The yellow flowers are the ones I made:
I found the wooden buttons in my stash, and the butterfly is from K and Company.  Another technique I used on my layout is stamping.  I have a lot of stamps and will admit that I rarely use them.  The clock image is by The Girls' Paperie and the scroll work behind it is by Glitz Designs.  My Creative Scrapbook has a challenge this month to use stamps on your layouts.  After looking at all of the beautiful entries, I decided to give it a try.
The flourish corner and images on the circles are stamped using images from The Girls' Paperie.
I also added some rub ons from the Die Cuts With A View Mariposa collection to my layout:
Please make sure you head on over to Sketches In Thyme to see what our DT has created.
Now, just one more thing . . .
I was on Echo Park's Facebook page yesterday and came across this picture of one of their new CHA releases:
OMG I'm in love!!!!!  Can't wait until it's available!
