I miss your words of wisdom . . .

There is a challenge blog that I frequent quite often that has such an array of talent on their design team, along with the participants in their sketch/journaling challenge.  I will admit that I am a lurker, eying all of the gorgeous layouts, feeling intimidated and wondering should I, could I?  If you're wondering what the heck I'm talking about, it's Once Upon A Sketch.  I was particularly drawn to their gorgeous sketch designed by Nadia Cannizzo and their journaling requirement . . I miss.  I've been putting this challenge off and finally decided to join in.

And here is the sketch:
When I read the post and saw the journaling must contain the words I miss, I instantly knew my layout would be of my mom. For those of you who follow my blog you know that last summer my mom was diagnosed with advanced, progressive dementia.   The picture of her was taken last August shortly before she moved into senior living. Sadly since last summer her memory has declined rapidly.  My mom and I were extremely close.  We talked about everything.  Sadly that part of my mom is gone, and words can't express how heartbroken I am.
  My journaling quite simply reads:

There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss
our conversations.  I miss being able to talk to you
about the weather, a gardening question or just to
confide in you.  You've always been there for me
as my mother, my friend and confidant.  I long  for
that open window, where your memory reemerges,
and we talk, we smile and laugh.

Make A Wish

I've been such a bad blogger lately.  Every time I think my life is back on track, something comes along and knocks me off.  My mojo has been sluggish and it's so frustrating!  Ideas pop into my scattered mind, but won't come together on paper.  I did manage though to get a layout finished using the March kit from Artful Delight and Workout Sketch #63 from ScrapFIT.
I know I've said if before,
but I love this kit and it worked so well with Diana's sketch over at ScrapFIT.
Here are a few closeups:

I've been super busy working with my sister to get my mom's house ready to put on the market.  The "For Sale" sign should go up next week.  We're hoping it sells fast.  The Realtor thinks it will sell within three weeks.  Life should be settling down for me a little once the house goes on the market.

Blossoms

Can you feel it yet ????  You know what I mean . . .  Spring is in the air!  The weather here has been beautiful!  I spent some time outside the last few days catching up on the weeds!  Yikes they are everywhere!
Speaking of Spring, I have a layout to share using the beautiful March kit from Artful Delight.  I have an orchard, but mind you it's been neglected over the years.  Too many trees and way too much work.  The trees produce apples, plums, pears, cherries and peaches.
I know I've said it before, but I love this kit!!!  Here are a few closeups:

The March kit is a must have!!!  There is one left and if you hurry you can order it here.
Artful Delight is having a DT call.  I've been with Leeanne since almost the beginning and she is a wonderful person to work for.  Her kits are packed with papers and embellishemnts!  She is looking to add a couple of cardmakers and scrapbook layout makers to her team.  You have until the end of the month to get your application in.  You can check out all of the details here.
Be on the look out for my next giveaway soon!  This time it will be a giveaway with a twist.

Capture The Joy Of Summer

The March kit from Artful Delight is by far my favorite!  Beautiful patterns and colors!!
You might be wondering who's in the picture and if you guessed me, you're right!  I love this picture and how the shadows fall on me!  I really enjoyed working on this layout and using papers from My Minds Eye and Dear Lizzy and Artful Delight's March sketch designed by former DT member Abby:
Join in on the challenge for a chance to win Artful Delight's April kit.
Here are a few closeups of my layout:

Well, I have to say  it feels good that I got two layouts completed and posted this week.  I think I'm finally back on track and hope that my mojo stays with me.

A Penny For Your Thoughts

Today over at Frosted Designs is the new Sketch Along Tuesdays Sketch Challenge along with the reveal of the new DT!   The new team  members along with returning DT are so talented.  It's been awhile since I joined in with the DT members to create a layout and loved the new sketch and gave it a try.  I do have to admit that this layout is so very different from what I normally create.
Love this picture of my son.  It was taken ages ago and whenever I look at it I can't help but wonder what was on his mind.  I used lots of old stash on this one, Sassafrass Lass papers, stickers and chipboard numbers along with some rub ons, a little machine stitching and paint splatters, something new to me. I was one nervous Nelly when it came to the paint splatters!
Here are a few closeups:
When I finished my layout I realized that I used a bunch of numbers, which just happens to be the current Fabulous Friday challenge also over at Frosted Designs!
Head on over to Frosted Designs and give our new Sketch Team members a big welcome and join in on the sketch challenge:
and while you are there check out the Fabulous Friday Numbers Challenge!

Artful Delight March Kit Reveal and A Sneak Peek

Gosh it's been awhile since I've posted anything.  Life has been hectic and my crafty time and blogging took a big hit.  My mojo went on an extended vacation and I worried if it would ever return.  I got my March kit from Artful Delight and to my surprise my mojo must have been hidden in the box, because once I opened it  my creativity made a comeback.
The Scrapbook kit is packed with gorgeousness!
My Minds Eye, American Crafts Dear Lizzy and October Afternoon!  I've been fortunate to work alongside with Leeanne, the owner of Artful Delight and have been given the opportunity to help pick out the contents of her kit.
The card kit is equally gorgeous packed with almost all of the same goodies as the scrapbook kit.
Leeanne's kits have been flying off the shelf!  For a more detailed list of the contents of her March kits, check out her post here. When you read her post you will also see she is having a DT call!
Along with the reveal of the kits is the new March sketch designed by former DT member Abby:
Complete a project using the March sketch for a chance to win the April kit!  I've been busy putting the April kit together and I promise it's going to be another fabulous kit!
Now for my little sneak peek using Artful Delight's March kit:
Check back on Tuesday, March 6th for my full reveal!
I know I have a lot of catching up to do!  I'll be by to pay you a visit to see what you have created in my absence!
