I'm One Lucky Momma

I love grabbing pictures from my friend Julina's Facebook page.  She's a kindhearted lovely person, and a wonderful mother to her three children.   One picture caught my attention the other day and of course I jumped at the opportunity to use it on a layout.

Lot of Prima's Doodle-Deux collection on this one, part of the August kit from Artful Delight.

Remember When

I was sitting out on my deck this morning drinking my coffee and watched as mothers gathered at the bus stop with their kids, busily taking pictures. My how times flies and oh how I miss those days.  Today was back to school for the kids!  Not mine, they've been finished with school for years. The beginning of the new school year also signals the approach of Autumn, one of my favorite seasons.  I noticed today a few trees here and there with leaves already turning color.  With the hot Summer we have had this year, I am looking forward to the cooler Autumn weather.   I had some free time over the weekend and completed this layout using the August Sketch #3 from the Kaisercraft blog and papers from their Lake House and Sweet Nothings collections.
I came across this old picture of my parents from long ago.  It doesn't have a date on it, but I'm pretty sure it was taken sometime in the first couple of years of their marriage.  I think they made a lovely couple.

This is the first time I have entered a layout using one of Kaisercraft's sketches, and here is the one I based my layout on:

A lot of layering and fussy cut work!

Me And My Shadow - BITW Challenge

I had started this layout and then put it aside to work on something else and then noticed this morning that the deadline was nearing for the "shadow" challenge at Bird Is The Word.  For some reason I thought the challenge ended at the end of the month.  I fell in love with the picture of Julina's little girl Zoey discovering her shadow.  It's such a sweet photo and just perfect for BITW.

I used some more of Webster's Pages Everyday Poetry collection and a few bits and pieces from some other collections.

Lots of fussy cutting and layering!

A beautiful crochet doily by SEI and an Amy Tangerine brad.

And a closeup up of the picture:
Love, love, love this picture!!!!

The September kit reveal is up at Artful Delight!
You can check out both the scrapbook and card kits here!
Can't wait until I get mine!!!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

You Are My BFF

Happy Thursday everyone!!!   Today is a special day for me, my birthday!  I'll spare you the details of what year I am celebrating.  Let's just say it's my 29th!!!  I've got a layout to share with you today that I made for my friend Julina using the August kit from Artful Delight and a delightful sketch designed by Diana  for Scrapfit's Workout #74.

and here is Diana's fun sketch:
This was a hard one for me . . . leaving all of that whitespace.  Normally I would be filling it with papers and embellishments, but once I got going on the layout, I embraced it and love how it turned out!

Summer a season of blooms

I love the summertime, as it is the time of year when all of my flowers, trees and bushes in my yard bloom.  I spend a lot of time outside tending to my yard and love to sit out on my front porch and enjoy the view.  Back in the Spring I had cut back a lot of branches on my Crepe Myrtle and worried after I had finished that I might have cut too much.  Crepe Myrtles are late bloomers (end of July) and I was amazed at how beautiful it is this summer.  I've never seen so many blooms on it before.  The August sketch challenge at Once Upon A Sketch is up and the theme for August is "Season" and I chose to scrap about my beautiful Crepe Myrtle, in all it's glory this summer.
As always there is a gorgeous sketch to work with designed by Nadia:

Lots of layering
and tucked beneath the doily is my journaling:

I broke out of my comfort zone and did a little embossing on my layout using the Stamper Anonymous Floral Tattoo stamp set designed by Tim Holtz .

I used some more of Webster's Pages Everyday Poetry along with some bits and pieces of other collections, Ladies & Gents, Western Romance and Life's Portrait.  I had recently purchased some K & Company and Recollections die cuts that I found at Michaels in the clearance section that I added for a little pop of color.

Cherish The Moments

I'm happy to report that my mojo is back and even though I'm not creating as much as I would like to, I'm enjoying getting back into the groove of things.  I have a layout to share with you today that I created using the August kit and sketch from Artful Delight.  I love the Basic Grey Paper Cottage papers in the kit.  They are whimsical and I love the doodling on them.  Speaking of doodling, Scrapfit's Warm Up #30 is all about doodling so I thought my layout would be perfect for their challenge.
I enjoy being able to create some layouts for my friend Julina.  Love this picture of her three kiddos!

I did my own twist on Artful Delight's sketch:
Create a layout using the sketch and enter it over at Artful Delight for a chance to win the September kit.

Here are a few closeups:
I love the mix of papers from Bo Bunny and Basic Grey, the chipboard embellishments  from Prima and Kaisercraft rub ons!   Don't you just love those cute buttons from the BG Paper Cottage Collection!! :)

I thought the sticker sentiment from Glitz Designs Beautiful Dreamer collection was perfect for my title for the gorgeous picture I used on my layout of Julina's precious little sweetie, Zoey.  I combined a lot of beautiful papers along with the July sketch from My Creative Sketches.

Here is the July sketch designed by Kim Keane:
