Live Laugh Love Canvas

I really enjoy working with canvases.  Seems to be more of them lately then layouts, but I love the artistic approach I take when creating art using a canvas.  I've been working on this one over the past week and a half, a little at a time and finally finished it last night.  I was drawn to a couple of challenge blogs this month and really wanted to create!
This month at Berry71bleu Mandy is hosting a Mixed Media Challenge:
and Christin is hosting the February challenge at Scrap Around the World.
I love Christin's mood board! I was particularly drawn to the icing on the cake and created some layering with papers and lace on my canvas.  I was also drawn to the subtle touches of gold in the mood board along with the vibrant pops of fuchsia.

A few close ups:

I incorporated a lot of mixed media into my canvas including some modeling paste, gesso, mists, inks and paints.

I hope I have inspired you and as always thanks for stopping by!

My Sweet Honey

Hi everyone!  Are you tired of winter yet?  Had enough of the cold weather, sleet, freezing rain and show?  I know I am.  It's been a tough winter here in Maryland.   Today I have a layout to share that I created using
Frosted Designs February Shades of Spring kit and our new monthly kit challenge.  This month it is a recipe challenge.

Working with the beautiful papers and embellishments in the kit made my mind wander to what's ahead . . . warmer weather and the beautiful colors of the flowers that will be in my garden.

A few close ups:
I used the Distress Inks from the kit to color a few of my flowers.  Once I dabbed the flowers with ink I spritzed some water on them to even out the color and then pained them randomly with some Faber Castell Gesso.

Here I've tucked some of the pink tulle ribbon from the kit beneath my layering and beneath the tulle ribbon you can see where I used the Tim Holtz    Faded Dots stencil.  I randomly inked some of the dots with the Raspberry Distress ink.

I used the white Signo gel pen in the kit to add a little dimension to the printed flowers on the paper and added the wooden birdcage which I painted with some gesso.  I stamped the wooden bird with some pretty pastel blue ink.

I covered the wooden cherish word with the Tim Holtz Juniper Paint and then stamped over it and once dried, I randomly added some white gesso.

Please join us for Brandi's Kit Challenge, you can find all the details here and if you are interested in purchasing the February Kit, Shades of Spring,
you can find it here in the Frosted Designs store.

Thanks for stopping by!
